Build simple sentences with jag, du, han, hon, vi and är, har, bor.
Grammar pathway — a separate, structured course that complements the practical Everyday Swedish lessons. Work through the lessons in order, or use the lesson menu to revisit a topic.
Start with the words that tell you who you are talking about. Swedish subject pronouns usually come before the verb in a simple statement.
A simple Swedish sentence often follows subject + verb + the rest. The verb form does not change to match the person in the present tense.
Read the Swedish sentence first, then check the English meaning.
| Swedish | English |
|---|---|
| Jag är här. | I am here. |
| Du bor i Sverige. | You live in Sweden. |
| Hon har en bok. | She has a book. |
| Vi arbetar här. | We work here. |
| De är hemma. | They are at home. |
Learn each pronoun with a complete sentence, not as an isolated word. Swedish de means “they”; in everyday speech it is often pronounced like “dom”.
